Keep seeting in PS as "indication of both 2 batter failure" always on and hence, any time battery fails PS can indicate. To remove fault alarms on PS, ons shall trigger "FMR" switch,

When i checked thismorning I realised that most of the LEDs in CPU B were flashing RED. Bottom line is that the problem was in the backup battery, i switched this off and the problem was gone. What i do not understand is why in this process the sync between both CPUs failed and what does this have to do with the backup battery. Whats the ppoint of a redundant system if the backup battery is si important?. Thanks, Hi Sampol, The Battery is not at all the cause for that. The battery is intended to provide backp to your CPU memory parts. The Battery fault would cause the Battery relevant indications to be active and EXTNF indication to be active. With some switch setting relevant to battery and FMR switch it will go OFF. Secondlly,. I guess only EXTNF, INTF, BAT(1,2,F), BF and REDF LED would have been flashing in your case. Isn't it???? The cause the information required to CPU for healthy communication was not available on respective hardware channels. The loss of information may cause because of voltage dip or the EMI effect on CPU at that point of the time. Please check what exactly had happened in your plant for that particular time. The invalid information on your respective hardware chanel have caused the overflow of your Diagnostic buffer. This you can observe in Diagnostic buffer. I hope that should satisfy your Q!!! Dear Sampol, Here are a few questions that came to my mind. 1. Were most LEDs flashing or all ? 2. How did you diagnose the problem to back-up batteries ? 3. Are you using RAM or EPROM in your system ? You may try the following and see: a) Try removing the CPU and other cards from the rack and reinsert them properly. Flashing could occur if the CPU is not properly inserted and in proper contact with backplane bus. b) Incase you are using EPROM in your CPU, do a memory compress from time-to-time. This option is available on CPU module information window. The reason for this is that hen you have downloaded your program into memory card (EPROM) for every subsequent download that you make for your FCs, FBs and DBs, which is not into your memory card, goes into the internal work-memory of CPU. After many such downloads the internal memory gets full.Due of this CPU performs an automatic memory dump to free up space in its internal work memory. This causes all LEDs to flash. c) If this doesn't solve the problem then you may have to go for CPU replacement. Sorry I could not explain better. Still hoping that it helps. Regards, Krrish !!
