S7-400H system : Configuration and possible merger with already existing system

amateur Posts: 145 Rating: (3)	We want to operate a S7-400H system, two racks, with 2 CP443 and 1 CP1613 to the SIMATIC PC station where we have installed WinCC V6.2 SP2. The OS is Win XP Pro SP2. We have the following questions : 1. Is the above mentioned configuration correct? 2. In the specific plant there is one more S7-400 system? Is it possible for the two systems to communicate? What are the prerequisites? What else do we have to consider so as to have a smooth merger between the two systems? Thanks in advance for your time

You need a second CP1613 and the "POWERPACK S7 REDCONNECT" software package to be able to operate this PC properly with an H system in a redundant network (redundant system bus). Regards

amateur Posts: 145 Rating: (3)	Thanks for the information, However in the attached picture taken from the manual "Fault-tolerant ssystems S7-400H" shows that we don't need two CP1613. So, is there any idea if we should choose two or one CP1613 for the abovementioned configuration? with regards Attachment Redundancy with fault-tolerant system & redundant bus system.JPG (218 Downloads)

The 2 CPs will give you redundancy in CPs and will increase your system availability. You are the one who should decide if you need redundancy in CPs (system bus) or not. Best regards. H-H
