S7-Basic TIA doesnt recognize Siwarex WP231

zinopower Posts: 8 Rating: (2)	Having trouble with S7 tia seeing the WP231 module on an s7-1200 rack. The software sees the PLC, and the Signal Modules, but doesnt see the WP231 module.... Am I missing somthing???

zinopower Posts: 8 Rating: (2)	Wizzard, thanks for the reply. My fault, Sorry, I should have clarified better... I have V13, so the module is already in the Hardware catalog. And I have downloaded the library, and can see ll the DR's in that library. The issue is that there is no communication with the module. When I go online the PLC and all the signal modules can be seen online in TIA, but the Siwarex WP231 has an "!" and says "unreachable". Similarly, if I start a new project, and let TIA autodetect the hardware, it will find the PLC and all the signal modules, but doesnt 'find' the Siwarex....

zinopower Posts: 8 Rating: (2)	Thanks Siwarexi. Yes, I was able to get the module recognized last night. Quite frankly, Im not exactly sure what the heck I did which changed.... I did download those projects, but I am struggling to understand them. Im a long time mirco-win S7-200 user, and Im a bit overwhelmed right now with S7 TIA.... Still trying to learn it with help from online sources... Now that I have the WP231 at least recognized, for a first step I was just trying to read the record DR30.gross proccess weight in the watch/force table while I push on the load cell.... Nothing yet.. tag is stale.. BUt I think im not executing the whole DB /FB DR read thing yet... which is all quite confusing to me at this point....

Therefore you see no current process values. I recommend you to write the command “2030” (= Read DR30) at the address DBW462 (= “CMD_B”). From now on the DR30 is read permanently from the WP231 module to the DB. Best regards Siwarexi

Other thing I dont understand, is that I used a watch table to the different DR's and set them up for my application (for instance, 1change to 1 load cell, not 3, Use Lb, instaed of Kg etc). I was able to write them over in the watch table, and when I monitor those values they are the way I chnaged them. But when I cycle power on the WP231, all the values are back to factory... Do I have to make all those registers retentive ?? Or similar to what you describe above, do I have to write a command to actually store permanently all the changes?

What I wasnt doing that was keeping it from retaining the settings, (I think) was that I never "wrote" the settings to the module with the 4000 + X command.... I was just writing values one time in the watch table. Now, whenever I made changes in the watch table of, say DR3, I immediately then execute 4003. That seems to 'burn' it to the module, and the settings stay during a power on/off... Am I understanding that right? The other thing I did when I was all done commissioning, is write 4051. (51 write restore point).

Siwarexi Gold Expert Joined: 1/4/2007 Last visit: 1/3/2025 Posts: 1170 Rating: (176)	Hello zinopower, If you are changing values in the watch table, you are changing only the values into the Instance-DB, but not in the WP231 module. If you are executing the command 4003, the DR3 is send from the Instance-DB to the WP231 module. Take care: Only if the Service mode is on, you can write the DR3 from the Instance-DB to the WP231 module. The command 4051, which you used, was wrong! Normally you received an error message by executing this command code. The correct command code for “Create recovery parameter” is 51. Best regards Siwarexi
