S7 - CP340 Comm Problem - Error on run

HI All,

I am anew S7 programmer, so forgive me if I missed something. I have a simple program installed to test the Cp340 comm to a serial device (currently Hyperterminal but will eventually be a printer). Every time I run the program it gives me an error ansd stops the CPU. Mesaage follows:

NOw I understand the complaint about Ob122 since it isn't there, but why do I get an I/O error? Here's the details:

CP340 FB3 (P_send) renamed to FB1000. Called from OB1, no other blocks or calls in program. This is only thing in there except for SFC58 which comes for the ride.

DB1000 is used to store params for call to Cp340 as follows:

Req = BOOL
Reset = BOOL
Laddr = INT 272 (this is confirmed in Hdwr setup - no conflicts or otherexcept analog at 259)
DBno = INT 1001
DBBno= INT 0
Len = INT 15
Done = BOOL
Error = BOOL
Status = Word W#16#0

That's the setup with values shown after types = actual from DB

DB1001 contains a string of 15 chars for the actual message pointed to by DBNO

There is also an instance DB1002 passed with the call to FB1000

The inputs to the FB are confirmed as the above numbers from DB1000

When I run the program, I get the status msg above. The ONLY thing I can see at 1010 is the BOOL outputs for the FB itself (done and error), but that is the format they give for the FB in the interface.They are BOOL, so there is no "byte access" . I don't get it.


Any help would be appreciated.

Try using addresses, which are in your process image (0.0 for example). As far as i can see you are using I/O for your bool parameters - also can try using M area. If problems still exist - upload your code+HW here. PS. I used ARRAY OF BYTES instead string in DB - everything was ok. Don't think that matters - but who knows^)

I communicate via MPI cable. The device is a motorized carrier works by 24V DC. The inputs and outputs are shown in Symbol table. It shows me in buffer that I have an error in FB1. But I can't find it.

you don't have problem with CP340 and communication with some device? You create post here in this topic about CP340 communication problem. Or I'm missing something or not understand if you talk about MPI?
