S7 PB-DP master-slave configuration

mechatronic Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello! I need to configure a vipa cpu316 as a dp slave in S7 CPU314C-2DP master system. But when I config the hardware and download to CPU314C-2DP, then SF comes up and BF blinks. The module information diagnostics doesn't show anything. Only hardware informationshows that DP slave not same as configured. (The vipa cpu316 slave configured as CPU315-2DP v1.2.) Regards

JMJ Posts: 487 Rating: (45)	Well, the answer is right there in your question. You are telling you used VIPA CPU as 315-2DP. That should be the problem. You can not replace a slave type with something else. Master can detect that, even if the IO areais thesame. What you need to do is, get the GSD file for VIPA CPU as slave and install the GSD in Step7 HW catalog. Here is the link for download http://www.vipa.de/en/service/downloads/gsd-files/ Then use this toconfigure your slave Hope this info will help you to fix the problem.

mechatronic Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello again! Thanx for your reply. Vipa support kindly sent me a sample program yesterday. Isaw that the Vipa slave cpu must be configured on its ows profibus network as CPU315-2DP slave and then the VIPA gsd file on master profibus network also works. Now i got rid of the sf and bf leds. Regards

VIPA manul says: "Data consistency can only be guaranteed for one unit! The choice "Data consistency by length" is not supported." Regards

The choice "Data consistency by length" is not supported." If I interpret that statement correctly, this means that you cannot use SFC14/15 for consistent data transfer over Profibus. You need to write to PQWxxx and read from PIWxxx, individually. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
