Piotr.M Platinum Member Joined: 6/24/2013 Last visit: 3/21/2025 Posts: 1674 Rating: (431)	Hi in a nutshell: 1. device has a defined set of data i.e. how telegram looks like 2. you must set the device in HW Config and allocate base address for inputs and outputs. in some devices you can select various options (for example drive can have different telegrams to suit different methods of control) 3. when configured device is visible by PLC as set of PIB/W/Ds from base address onwards for example we have a pyrometer which has following telegram structure: Inputs to PLC: Address+0: I_Temperature as Integer; // Temperature in 0.1C units Address+2: I_Internal Temperature as Integer; // Internal Temperature in 0.1C units Address+4: I_Status as Integer; // Status Word Outputs from PLC Address+0: Emissivity as Integer; // Emissivity: 1..1100 --> 0.001..1.100 Let's say you set in HW Config base address to 300 for both inputs and outputs then in the program: L PIW 300 // Temperature as Degress x 10 ITD DTR L 10.0 /R T I_PYRO_TEMPERATURE; // Temperature as Real L PIW 302 // Pyro Head Temperature as Degress x 10 ITD DTR L 10.0 /R T I_PYRO_INTERNAL_TEMPERATURE; // Temperature as Real etc.
