Zdravko Balorda Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I have a SNMP client. Can I gain access to PLC data via SNMP? Is there snmp daemon running on S7 PLC? Like I can read data on other devices, routers, computers etc? Are all tags available? Thanks, Zdravko

You can implement it by programming, but then you can send user data and no information of the interface like communication speed or duplex mode etc. The only diagnostic you can use by network management system is pinging the device IP.

Is the Ethernet port on s7 of any use to my problem? Hello, to connect a s7 PLC from non windows os you can use a native TCP-Conection, or if required an udp connection. Fro this you must use the FC5 and FC6 block on PLC. A sample you will find here: How do you program the communication blocks FC5 and FC6? It is suggested to use fixed data length, hae a look to this FAQ: Behavior of the communication processors during data transfer via TCP connections without RFC 1006
