S7 to S7 Comms. Number of connections required?

FatRich Posts: 24 Rating: (2)	Hi I have no experience with inter PLC comms using Siemens S7. I'm developing a project usingsix 317-2DP PLC's. These will sit on a profibus network. Communication will be required between the PLC's, For testing purposes I have configured two PLC's. These are using the PUT instruction to communicate with each other. I've found that two way communications can be achieved with only one connection (PLC1 to PLC2)configured in NetPro. The PUT instruction in each PLC both use the same ID. I'm suprised that this configuration works as I thought each communication path would require its own connection. I've also found that the same can be achieved with two connections configured (PLC1 to PLC2 & PLC2 to PLC1). I'm not sure which method I should use. Will both methods provide the same performance?
