I am planning a project where I should send some data from a S7 1214 controller to a database. Since I am planning to use the Matrikon OPC Server for Step7:

Would I be able to communicate it with OPC? Take into account that the OPC Server from Matrikon is not able to speak in Profinet, but it can do it in Ethernet protocol. Should I make any configuration to the PLC?

S7-1200 supports TCP Protocoll and I think this should work with your OPC but I would ask the developer of the OPC if it will work.

In S7-1200 you must enable in properties of your PLC the Permission of Put, Get...

First, where do you gonna install the OPC server?

Then from the programming of the PLC (That CPU with TIA Portal) You have to configure the connection to that OPC server from Devices & Networks.

The OPC Server is the Part that has to be able to connect a S71200 PLC. In SIMATIC Net OPC Server you can do this like this:

The S71200 has not OPC Client functionality!! Its because the OPC Server of Siemens can communicate with all Siemens PLCs to access them over OPC to other non Siemens OPC Clients.

I would ask the developer of your OPC Server if it can get access to S71200 PLCs.
