This conveyor is in use since last 6 years with 1.5Mbps and only now we had to reduce BPS to 500 KBPS

Pl advice if repeater wud help if yes what is the way to connect repeater in line

Generally if your fault came sporadically and reducing speed helps to solve the problem that means physical reasons on bus degradation. This doesn't mean you last segment is bad, it can be any segment influencing whole network.

If you have any kind of profibus tester you can try to find the reason and eliminate it. Just inserting repeater without testing ... well, where do you want to install it? Generally you should do it on the line with worst quality, and you can't define it unless you have tester:) Otherwise you can fix "good' line and leave "bad" line - then you will get same behavior shortly.

I have still a doubt Kindly clarify

a) As there r 5 nodes on the line, we find BF flickeringONLY on Node 5 (address 15) which is the last node rest all nodes are healthy.

As we dont have profibus tester, we replaced probfibus cable between Node 4 and 5, replaced IM and other connected I/O module at Node 5, ensured shield of profibus cable is properly connected with metallic clamp inside profibus connector to ensure there r no spurious signals, despite doing all these, BF was flickering Only at Node 5, it became alright only after reducing BPS from 1.5 Mbps to 500 kbps

Kindly explain if BF on Node 5 can blink and other nodes will look ok even if profibus cables etc of other nodes have degraded (ie not just between Node 4 and 5)

That DOES NOT mean segment node4-node5 has problems - please read my previous post carefully. Its just the last node, so it "catches" all interferences.
