Saving Log to Network Drive in WinCC V12

User62719 Advanced Member Joined: 1/14/2014 Last visit: 6/2/2024 Posts: 112 Rating: (1)	Hello, WinCC V12 SP1 Update 3. TP700 Comfort Panel. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I am trying to have a log saved as a CSV file on my PC. The log is created and works fine when saved to a USB thumb drive inserted into the USB port on the HMI. I've now created a shared folder on my D: in Windows and I would like the logs to be saved there. I have followed the instructions step-by-step from the following FAQ: "How do you integrate an operator panel into a local network" from Nov 2012. However, the HMI will not write the file to my PC. I am able to ping both devices in both directions using their names, updated the lmhosts file. However, when using the PC name as described in the FAQ in the log destination, nothing happens. The file just does not show up at all in the folder on the PC. I can ping the computer from the HMI using the computer name. But tried to open the folder via the command line (using "net use", although not sure this is possible) and had no access. The log writes fine to the USB drive in the HMI itself. There must be something with the share settings or network setup. I must be missing something. Thanks!

K!ke Posts: 1299 Rating: (136)	Hello, did you allow "full control" in the network sharing settings? Did you log on with the correct user name and password on the panel? you can also change this in control panel (Control Panel > Network ID). K!ke

I'm attaching them as a zip file because I can't figure out how to attach multiple images at once. "Everyone" has full control and I am the owner. On the panel under Network ID I have only my name under "User name". No password, no domain. I didn't setup the panel to require a login yet. Is this a problem? Thanks for the help. This was the reference I was referring to in my original post that I followed step-by-step unsuccessfully. However, Problem SOLVED. It took ages of experimenting to figure out but was very simple. The "Domain" on the panel has to be the same as the "Workgroup" on Win 7. In the guide it simply said "enter the Domain name of the network which you can get from your network administrator". I am now able to save logs to the network drive. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem, but also I already have the same Domain as Win10, there is any configuration aditional to do on Windows?, or in the panel?. btw, I'm dataloging by scripting, but also I think both are the same things.
