My task is to save word with bits from representing digital (discrete) alarms from HMI into Data Blocks in PLC.

So for example there is word "wAlarms" in HMI and I want to have a data block DB10 in PLC, where every bit of this word should be represented as a separate bool variable. I know that one method is to send word to DataBlock in PLC and then separate it into bits using proper function in Program Blocks. My question is whether there are any methods that would make it more automatic - word sent from HMI would be received as 16 bits in PLC's DB from the get-go.

Hello kariak,

when you have a PLC-tag of data type WORD which you use in the HMI, too, you can access it in the PLC e.g.:

DB1.DBW100.%X0 ... DB1.DBW100.%X15

Let's say I have got situation like in attachment, how do I get access to bit 0 from this word? Because DB5.DBW0.%X0 doesn't work.

I finally did it using Gather/Scatter methods, although code sent by K_Ohjus also does work.

Ok. The following syntax works for me: Data_block_1.word.%X0
