SCADA application not connecting to PLC via CP5611 (MPI)

Airgatos Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hi everybody. This is my first post. I have no expereience in S7-300 only in S7-200. A client of mine owns a concrete batching machine. Last week a problem appeared. The SCADA programm showed up a message "CommCut" Some information about the system Software on PC : Windows 98 First Edition SCADA application : Skob++ Communication Card on PC : CP5611 PLC : CPU 314 IFM The PC communicates with PLC via Communication Card CP5611 using MPI When I visited the plant I noticed that the led BAT.F on CPU was on. I replaced the battery hoping that this would solve the problem but it didn't. The BAT.F led went off = OK In the "Set PG/PC interface", I run "Diagnostics" > "Read" and two ticks appeared showing the 2 addresses, 0 and 2. But when I pressed the "Test" button, the result was "Error 0xcb : Bad configuration" What does it mean? Next I wanted to check if the CP5611 and PLC were OK. I transferred the CP5611 to an other PC with WindowsXP and using STEP7 Lite version 3 (downloaded from Siemens site), I managed an online communication with the PLC. Set in STOP and then in RUN and uploaded the programm from CPU. I guess now that the CP5611 and CPU are OK.In the "Set PG/PC interface", I run "Diagnostics" > "Read" and two ticks appeared showing the 2 addresses, 0 and 2 and when I pressed the "Test" button, this time, the result was "OK" So the cable connecting PC with PLC is OK. Now I took the PC in my office to check the PC. I put back the CP5611 to its original PC (Windows98 FE). It had lost the driver. Minutes later, a new problem appeared. I had to replace the RAM memory to PC. I needed to change PCI slot and removed an other PCI card (2 serial + 1 parallel) that it wasn't in use. The problem solved and now the driver seems to work. Before I go back to the plant Iwanted to install and run STEP7 Lite version 2 SP2 software on this PC, but I can't find it in the Siemens site. I wanted to manage an online communication with its original PC (just like I did with another PC, above) but I can't. Is there any possibility that the malfunction was due to the RAM of the PC that I replaced now? Do you think the driver is OK now? PS: The SCADA uses recipes with Borland data base. Before I go back what test do you suggest? Thank you in advance.

Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier Daniel thanks for your reply. But the link you suggest for the STEP7 Lite V2.0 is just the Service Pack only! I need STEP7 Lite v2.0 including Service Pack 1. Airgatos Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hristo hi I already visited Siemens' office here. They gave me a copy of Step7 Lite v2. SP2 but guess !!! It doesn't support Windows98 First Edition. How the hell did they install the programms e.t.c. Obviously with STEP7 (old version) which I have to buy. But I won't give money for a software for Windows98 First Edition !!!! Anyway, tomorrow I'm going back to the plant hoping that the RAM replacement on the PC I made will solve the problem ! I wonder why siemens do not offer a simple software for free to make an online connection. Just that, just to see if the drivers, CP's, CPU's are OK. They offer it only for newer Windows, with STEP7 Lite v3.x.

STEP7 Lite v2 is not available. If you read previous posts you will see that I took a copy from Siemens sales. But it still is not compatible with Windows98 First Edition. I need a software of STEP7 running on Windows98FE.

Airgatos Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	After exploring, reading, searching, I found that the STEP7 version that the PC used, was STEP7 v4.02. No OPC server found, no SIMATIC NET files generally. In the directory where the client software "Skob++" is located, I found S7ONLINX.dll and W95_S7.dll. I 've read that using W95_S7.dll you can read and write to PLC with MPI port. I don't know what S7ONLINX.dll is for. Probably needed for STEP7. So I think I have no many things to do. Just to pray that everything will be OK.
