These errors can come out if the network topology is set in the Tia Portal.

All switches have their own web interface. Basically, by selecting the MRP (Auto) setting on each switch, the network ring should work. You do not need to set parameters through the Tia Portal. Tia Portal may not even be aware of their existence.

But, from my point of view, the more diagnostics available to staff, the better.

I was able to get the ring working. I set the MRP role setting to Manager (Auto) on all switches, and set all the ring ports to "Any partner" on all switches.. I downloaded the settings using TIA portal, not the web interface (I have no choice in this case),

The initial problem persists though; when I disconnect a switch in the ring, the remaining switches work fine except they report an error. The error now simply says "Error. Module exists".

It's not a major issue though.
