I send a picture attachment with the network topology Industrial plant are being installed, we have doubts about a Switch Scalance x414-3E, we need to connect the following equipment: .- THIRTEEN (13) S7-400 CONNECTOR THROUGH UTP .- CUATR0 (4) PLC S7-300 CONNECTOR THROUGH UTP .- TWO (2) SCALANCE W788-1 PRO UTP CONNECTOR THROUGH .- TWO (2) PLC S7-400 THROUGH OPTICAL FIBER .- ONE(1) SCALANCE x414-3E IN TOPOLOGY LINEAR I know that you suggest recommendation in this regard, we have the SCALANCE expansion module MM491-2. Then I've to tell you that this is not possible. With the X414-3E the basic module has 2 x Copper Ethernet ports (flexible, cab be changed into FO) 12 x Copper Ethernet ports (fixed). The basic module can be extended with 8 ports either Copper or Fiber Optic not a mix of both. For your purpose the Scalance XR324-12M is more suitable. It's a 19" Rack Switch which is fully modulair. This means you can build the device with all the different ports you want. But even this switch doesn't fit what you want exactly. The Media Modules are always 2-ports of the same type. I also wonder how you want to connect the S7-400's via Fiber. Do you have a mediaconverter or a local switch in mind on that side?

I now have the Hirschmann switch that allows to connect different PLC's through ECAUI cards, ECFL2 / 4, UYDE The connector to the output of the PLC has the Mini-component optical transceiver OTDE. We are replacing the Hirschmann switch Scalance X-414

This cannot be connected to a 100baseFX port which is on a Scalance Device like the X400 or XR300. If this is the case youneed a Scalance X101-1FL module to convert the 10baseFL to a 100baseTX (RJ45) port.

We will replace four (4) Hirschmann switch for four (4) switch Scalance X-414-3E, the speed of the network with the Hirschmann is 10Mb, with the new incorporation of Sclance X-400 we increased to 100Mb. SCALANCE W788 connect them directly to Scalance x414-3E and only three (3) PLC's that have the card 6GK7 443 1EX20 .....; other devices are connected to Hirschmann. I am planning to include Fiber Optic converter component similar to TP11 OMC. The attached drawing shows the Scalance x414, Hirschmann currently have installed, I need to replace it without affecting production operations. I've tested and now the Hirschmann switch is connected to another switch Scalance x414, communication fits nicely, only Scalance W788 is that the problem occurs and is logical because your comentastes it.
