Sir, We trying to build a Redundant Ring system to communicate between several PLC stations and main SCADA station, In each station we have 2 hot redundant PLCs + 2 Scalance x208 switches + 1 HMI + 1 router. The HMI, the router and Each PLC connected to both x208 scalance switches (check the attachments to see the connection scheme) . So we afraid of getting stuck in the BRIDGE LOOP problem ( which can be describes as packets to continuously loop around the network If there are two Layer 2 paths from a source to a destination. This can cause a severe drain on available bandwidth, and it can cause the network links to become intermittently unreliable). So we need to know if the Bridge Loop can cause a problem in a network of this size (small network), or we need to use another Scalance switches which support the STP protocol. Regards.
