Scalance X308-2 initial configuration

AGPR Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Dear Experts. I am having problems to connect several X308-2 (3 in total) in a Ring Topology. Actually, I have them connected without fiber ports (9-10) using one electrical port (4) to interconnect them. I have not assigned any IP address to the switches because I am using ISO in the Plant Bus (PCS7). I would like to know how to access the Switch Configuration through my Ethernet Browser (web based management) so I can verified that the ports 9 and 10 are set as ring and Ring Redundancy is enabled. I would appreciate any help, Thanks\AGPR

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Hello, well there are actually two ways to achieve this. You may either use the PST Tool or STEP7 to provide an IP Address to the SCALANCE X Switch. The PST Tool may be fund at: Primary Setup Tool (PST) Version V3.2 Adress Setting of SIMATIC NET Industrial Ethernet Products - no functional change opposite version 3.2. In STEP7 you may have to select PLC from the menu... than Ethernet nodes > Edit Ethernet nodes. This way you may seek for the Switches and you may provide an IP Address to each of the SCALANCE X. Maybe this Application may help you too: PROFINET IO - Configuration & Diagnostics As soon as you configured the IP Addresses you may access the SCALANCE X Switches by each Web-Browser. I am really gald... by the way, have you noticed that the SCALANCE X 300 could be run with a up to date Firmware since last Weekend? Check this Download: SCALANCE X-300 Firmware Update to Version 2.3.0 Ithink it is well worth to be installed. Best regards J_Bell
