SCL Undo / Redo problem

Marko Bursic Platinum Member Joined: 9/8/2009 Last visit: 7/17/2023 Posts: 1410 Rating: (153)	While I was writing some big program in SCL I have used undo, then 90% of code vanished at that moment I made Redo - no code compared back. I did several Save while writting the code, so I expected to not save when code vanished, so I closed the editor and opened it again, no saved code reemerged, then I closed the entire project and TIA asked me if I want to save I said NO. I reopened entire project, but unfortunately all the day is lost, no code anymore. :( TIA does exactly the opposite what an user wants: when you would like that program is saved it doesn't save, when you say NO NO don't save it saves (deletes). Is there any way not to loose one another day in my short life using this TIA?

Hello, It may sound a bit old-fashioned , but a humble text editor or NotePad++ will be more efficient in such a case.The final version of program can be imported to TIA Portal easily! I discovered another one thing: With external editor I was able to type code in one hour, while it took me more than four hours in TIA editor for less code. TIA really slows down production.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. I have too young to experience the earlier versions of STEP 7. You can read comments of senior members of our forum about the problems they had with the earlier versions of STEP 7. I guess we should be patient and wait for a more stable product. I too have run into SCL programming problems and the slow-downs and system crashes that result from live SCL programming within the build-in SCL editor in TIA portal - all versions supporting scl on the s7-1200. I found certain triggers that no matter what result in crashes and would report those. An update or patch or new version later and that specific trigger would not necessarily crash portal, but it would still cause odd behavior once I moved beyond that trigger. At that point, I would save, exit portal, and start fresh and hope my project did not become corrupted. Good luck to you in figuring out the undo. I find it useless in SCL, and not possible while online.
