I'm not a 100% sure what you mean. But you could hide the buttons that take you to the screens depending on user level. Could that be of any use to you?

It is is, you could let the HMI go to a loginscreen on user change and make sure they can't see any buttons or go anywhere else without being logged in with the correct user level.

It was not 100% clear what you where talking about, I was thinking of password protecting your screen when they are accessed by the HMI. But you mean when the software itself is in the hands of someone else you want the project to be password protected.

I will have to check that.

But I'm thinking it's not that easy to upload a project from your HMI to your PG/PC. (it is easy to backup and restore, but I mean the whole project in *.V12 is difficult I guess) So why would you want to know how protect your screens? I can see why you would want to do it for scripts, since you don't want to show people your scripting code. But why for screens?

If you want the whole project to be password protected, you can maybe use a password protected compressed file, like a password protected *.zip or *.rar?

Another thing you might do is password protect the operating system (windows) on you hmi panel, this way it's almost impossible for unauthorized users to uplaod your project from hmi to pc without authorization. (this can easily bedone in the control panel of your hmi)

Actually this is one of our customer automation team requirement.

Hi javed, have you already asked them why they want the screens to be password protected? You might meet their requirementsby another way.

I mean there are a lot of ways to protect your project. But I don't think you can know how protect a screen. But I'm sure you can accomplish the same amount of security (or even more) by using one(or a combination)of the suggestions I offered.

i dont think that will be possible as per my knowledge, since the user password can even be changed with development. I have enquired about this once with siemens and the information i got then was so. Maybe anyone else who knows how to do it can help us
