Sylvie Posts: 9 Rating: (1)	Hi, I have noticed a hole in the PC running my WinCC application. I need to install this windows patch: MS06-035 - KB917159 Vulnerability in server service could allow remote code execution. I installed it, but then when I open WinCC I get the following error: "Database context does not exist or is invalid". I uninstalled it and I can now open WinCC correctly. I read the security patches document Sec_patches_MS.pdf but this patch does not appear. I wanted to know if it is confirmed that this patch cannot be installed. Thanks.

But it would actually be better to include the failed tests in this documents, because when you want to install a patch that isn't listed in the document, you don't know if it doesn't work or simply hasn't been tested... It's a little confusing.... And as I have to justify to the client why I can't install a fix to my problem,it would have been better to have an "official" document that proves it can't be than my saying it doen't work.... Well that's just a suggestion! Thanks anyway!

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	I agree with you that thedocument should include a list of patches that should not be installed. But even then, there will always be time lag between the patch being released by MS and the suitability showing up on the Siemens document because of the system test routines the patch has to go through. In your case where you need the answer immediately (because you have to inform the customer), I would recommend logging a support request.
