First of all, quick look on my Setup, I'm using the following  :

• TIA Portal V14 SP1 Upd2 
• S7 V14 SP1 Upd2 
• WinCC Advanced V14 SP1 Up2
• KTP 400 Comfort V14.0.1.0

I'm logging some Variables using the Segmented Archiving method. The data stored on the SD card from the Panel have to be saved on a Network Drive. 

I have configured my archive to make 24 segments, 1 per hour in .txt format. Nothing to fancy till now. 

I would now like to save the last closed segment on a Network Drive.

Is there a way to know which Segement is currently being written and thus create a script that would copy his predecessor ?

Thank you for your input. I used the second solution you provided me. Works like a charm. 

But however, there's something that doesn't sound right to me, or that I simply don't get. In the application description it is said : 

• Locking the archive files Runtime itself cannot copy the files. Instead, an according process of the operating system has to be triggered from the runtime script. However, due to operating system conditions, it is always only one process that can access a certain file at any time. This means that it is not possible to simultaneously log to a file while it is copied. Instead, a certain sequence of the procedure has to be adhered to: 
  •  1. Interrupt logging, buffer arriving values to be archived 
  •  2. Start copying file 
  •  3. Wait until the copy process is completed 
  •  4. Write buffer into archive 
  •  5. Resume logging
