send e-mails using the S7-1200 TCON, TSEND and TRCV instructions

Momentum Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello, I am trying to send e-mails using the S7-1200 TCON, TSEND and TRCV instructions. I am able to connect to the SMPT server and send a string of data to it with success, I am not getting a response back. If I connect to the SMPT server using hyper-terminal I can send e-mails using the same string data that I am sending with the PLC. I also have connected the PLC to my Hyper terminal to confirm that the data I am sending is clean and not sending the first two bytes of the string (total length and bytes of data). I have tried sending it in Characters, string, and different variations. Is there a reason I am not able to see the response?

Try a network sniffer and compare the PLC transmission against your hyperterminal transmission. Something may be different in the data formatting or data representation or end of transmission encoding. Save both and do a binary comparison. Please post your results.

Momentum Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello Huggy, There is a difference once it is sent from the PLC, it shows up as a data fragment on the network and is one block of data. If sent from the Hyper terminal it hand shakes with the server a few times and sends the data in sections. Is it possible that I am not connecting correctly or is there a structure that I should be looking for (SMTP)? I have tried to send a single string and still no response, I am leaning towards the initial connection. Thanks for the advice!!
