have you tried to catch the Status when the Error-Bit is coming?

the most STATUS-information are only available for one cycle. When an error occurs the Error-bit is true. Copy the status to an other variable to catch this error.

you can post info what device and what exact frames (protocol) that device expects, better give info about frames in hex format. Then it can be better clear where can be problem.

no simplest test as try Hyperterminal as your PC program, no that C# application. Then try send from PLC your message and look to Hyperterminal what message will arrive. Then you'll be sure where problem is.

Update: look to your buffer what you want send and look to your LEN parameter, you want send 1 BYTE?
