Hello mankar; Here are a few documents on the CP 341, and a sample program (in pdf) that you can use to set your own test project. CP 341 ASCII sample program: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/6894849 Manuals:CP 341 Point-to-Point Communication, Installation and Parameter Assignment Manuals, configurable:CP 341 - First Steps in Commissioning If you are new with the CP 341 or PtP comms, I recommend you spend some time reading the manuals, until you understand the sequence required to set up the CPs: hardware available and inter-CP wiring, parameter selection and settings, function blocks to be programmed. This will save you much trouble when you start looking at the sample program and writing your own. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Earlierproject modbus master communication with energy meters we completed successfully. But now we have send some datas to thirdparty.So in this case how i can send my datas ? Is it by using the same DB42( source db used in FB8 )it is possible ? Have you understood my problem? Wheather my following concept is correct ? CP341 - RS232 MODBUS MASTER CP341 - RS232MODBUS MASTER IN IST CPU STATION IN2ND CPU STATION FB8 -- DB42FB7 -- DB43 SEND REQUEST-------->RECEIVED DATA AS WELL AS DATA FB7 -- DB43 FB8 -- DB42 RECEIVED DATA<----------- SEND REQUEST AS WELL AS DATA

Basically your description of the exchanges seems quite clear, and covers the groound. However, to do this you need 2 CP 341, each with a loadable driver, the first for Modbus RTU master the second for Modbus RTU slave. Are you goind to use these both during your actual project? You realize the dongle is quite expensive, so it would add a bit of overhead to your project. We tested the Modbus exchanges of our Modbus masterusing a free download of Modscan32, or any other available free Modbus test software from the web. Of course we had access to a real Com port, that simplified our lives. We also used a USB to RS-232 converter cable (with a DB9 connector) from Startech withgood successin one project where our newlaptop came without a serial port. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (324)	Hello Mankar, Modbus is a master slave protocol. That means one communication partner is the master, the other one the slave. It is not possible to communicate from master to master or from slave to slave. The master sends a request (active) and the slave answers with a respond (passive). When you have got two CPs and two dongles you can use one CP as Modbus master and the other one as Modbus slave. The function block FB8 is only used with Modbus slave driver. Please note: the dongles for Modbus master and Modbus slave are identical. You can use them for both drivers. A protocol with which both communication partners can start the data transmission is 3964R or RK512, both available with CP341 by default. Regards, Kaulquappe

Ok in 3964R or RK512 protocol it is possible to send the datas in hexa format ? Bcoz i only did communication with modbus thats why i am asking ?

You must use Function 5, 6 or 16 to write ("Preset") registers or coils in the slave you are addressing: -Function 5 writes a bit value to a single coil in the slave. -Function 6 writes an integer valueto a single register in the slave. -Function 16 writes to up to 127 registers at a time in the slave. Function 3is designed to read up to 127 values in output registersfrom the slave. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
