Hallo,

I am using Serial communication for the first time. I am trying to send string to a Printer using RS232 Hardware through FB3 S_Send. When I trigger S_Send, there is no change in DONE or ERROR (both are FALSE) . I am evaluating them with an OR to SET a Temp variable. I don't see any chance. STATUS is #0. 

S_RCV shows ERROR as TRUE and DONE as FALSE and STATUS #1E0E. It would be great, if someone could help. Thanks.

I am using ET200S SI (6ES7 138-4DF01-0AB0).

I am using the project with Step7 Classic. 

The Communication S_SEND Block has the parameters 

Inputs: 

EN                              -            Always TRUE

REQ                           -            For Trigger

R                                -             Not used

LADDR                      -             String Address of the ET200S SI module (from hardware Configuration)

DB_NO                      -             DB Number

DBB_NO                   -              Starting address of the String

LEN                            -             Length of the String

COM_RST                -              TRUE during Startup and FALSE Otherwise

Outputs:

DONE

ERROR

STATUS

ENO

What parameter-settings does the communication have?  

I meant the parameter settings in HW-Configuration. Are the settings the same like in the printer?

Is you module blinking at the Rx/Tx-LED´s when you try to send or receive something?

Kaulquappe: Thanks for the reply. I have adjusted the LADDR and now I see the ERROR 1E0E is not more. Still the Communication is not achieved. While transmitting or after transmission none of the DONE or ERROR are being TRUE. 

mopS04: May I please know, What generally parameter Setting in Hardware Configuration consists of? I checked the Module number and addresses. Yes the Tx LED is blinking while transmitting. But, i don't see any blink at Rx LED.

I mean the settings in the picture below. The settings should match to the settings your device has you want to send to. 

beware of that:  After a correct send request, the parameter DONE, ERROR and STATUS is available for one CPU cycle! but I think you already know that, because you told already something of an Error 1E0E.

When the Tx-LED is blinking and the Rx doesn´t, the module is sending something, but you don´t get an answer from your communication partner. Check the communication parameters.
