Sending mail with Gmail using Comfort panel

Hello,

Here is the way I found to send emails using a comfort panel.

Go into the "Runtime settings" section of the HMI and use the following parameters.

• Server name: smtp.gmail.com
• Port: 587
• Sender name: UseYourName
• E-mail address: UseYourOwnEmailAddress
• Login: UseYourOwnEmailAddress
• Password: UseYourPassword
• Check "Secure connection required (SSL)

Here is the result:

I didn't have to check "Allow less secure apps" ON.

I will give more information in the following posts.

Add an "Alarm view" object to the screen and check everything.

It will help you see if your are connect or not to the SMTP server when pressing the button.

At this point, if your computer is connect to internet, you are able to test the above configuration with the simulator.

Now, in the HMI itself, get out of the runtime and select the "Settings" button in the "Start center".

Now go into "Network and Dial-up Connections" link.

Select "PN_X1" and make sure you have the correct IP address, subnet mask and gateway.

Here are the DNS server I usually use.

Exit the settings menu and go back to the "Start center" and double-click on "Internet explorer" icon.

Try to go to "www.google.com" and accept the security alert.

Download into the HMI, click on "Start" button of the "Start center", click on the button and that's it!

The Less secure access to gmail account is not available anymore. Did anyone found a sollution for this?

See below to enable App Password (unique password for eg. an Comfort panel). This worked for me, and works good. Write down the password as it only shows once.
