Dear Experts,

I have a PC station WinXP with Sentron Power Manager 3.0. WIth Modbus TCP it reads values from 4 PAC devices. Other PC station Win7 is in the network with WinCC Scada 7.x installed. In that Scada I need to display values from PAC.

So far it was easy to start OPC DA Server on Sentron Power Manager, but found difficulties to read it with WinCC.

I'd like to avoid configuring DCOM.

Can I establish communication with OPC Scout? OPC WinCC channel?

Any advice welcomed.

If OPC Server  and OPC client is on different PC then you need to do all necessary DCOM setting for both PC. Just go thru WinCC Manual under OPC channel chapter you will find Ho to do  DCOM settings.

OPC scout is acting as client only  and you can see the values but there also you need to do DCOM setting.

WinCC will act as OPC client which can communicate with SENTRON Power manger OPC server.

So either WinCC has to install on Sentron Power config manager PC or Sentron Power config manager has to install on WinCC PC to avoid DCOM settings as local OPC server.

Or other way, if PAC meter Support Modbus TCP communication then directly you can communicate PAC meters with WinCC via Modbus TCP driver.

Above link explains how to set if the SimaticNet is installed. But with my Sentron there is only OpcEnum object (No OPC.SimaticNET).

Is there any nice step by step procedure manual?

Do you have to use OPC DA?

I would use the direct connection with Modbus TCPIP out of WinCC then you do not have to use DCOM.
