avafab Posts: 83 Rating: (1)	Hello, I have serial interface module for ET200s to connect a barcode scanner but it won't work, S_SEND and S_RCV gave me 0702 and 0802, the error say that no STX is received and instead of this others characters are received or a nack but I tested barcode scanner with my pc and hyper terminal and it works and give me a string with STX at the beginning... could you please help we with this errors? what is missing? thank you thank you for help

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (324)	Hello Avafab, are you sure that the scanner uses 3964R protocol? Or is it just a string with STX at the beginning - then you should use ASCII driver instead of 3964. Regards, Kaulquappe

avafab Posts: 83 Rating: (1)	Yes! solved! It was the first time in the hardware configuration I see 2 kind of hardaware module associated to the same order code. I took the wrong one from the catalog (infact I took 3964 protocol instead of ASCII). After I put in the hardware configuration the right one and now it works perfectly. Thank you very much.

avafab Posts: 83 Rating: (1)	Just another question please, I saw that when a new code is received the old one is overwritten and if the new one is smaller than the old one, I see on the buffer the new plus some chars from the old one. old code T0102030405 new code scanned ERP300 RESULT -> ERP30030405 bad!! so why the module is not cleaning the buffer before to receive a new one? How can I put this options on module hardware configuration? I tried all checkboxes without improvements.. find attached a screenshot. Attachment ModuleParameters.jpg (224 Downloads)

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (324)	Hello Avafab, well, that's just an error of reasoning. The SI module transfers only the received data to the DB. When the second telegram is shorter than the first one, the values which are already in the DB keep available. There are two possibilities to solve the problem: - check the outputLEN of B_RCV, it shows the length of the already received telegramor - delete the DB (when NDR is set, copy the received data to another DB and delete the DB in which B_RCV transfers the data) I would recommend to use the first possiblity. avafab Posts: 83 Rating: (1)	Sorry but I don't agree with you, I think it's not a reasoning error, it's a function that is not implemented yet inside B_RCV and it's not good that I cannot decide to erase buffer between one scan and another.. but ok, that's it for the moment, so what you mean by checking the len? to use this to erase chars after the string lenght? I don't want to use another DB, and my problem is that I use this barcode labels to check if the component is the right one and each scan the lenght could be different! those barcode I diplay on a TP277 and I must show only the last received code. thank you

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (324)	Hello Avafab, when NDR = TRUE, LEN shows the number of received bytes. So you have got the information how many characters were received and how many you should evaluate. I'm not familiar with TP277, I don't know if there is a possiblity to have different length of one variable. Regards, Kaulquappe

avafab Posts: 83 Rating: (1)	Ok thank you, my arrays of strings can contain maximum 20 chars, so I need a function (maybe I can write it in SCL instead of LAD) that when B_RCV NDR output goes to 1 evaluates LEN, goes into the buffer and delete all chars from LEN+1 to 20. It will be good if someone could post SCL code for this, could we ask your collegue smiffy that help me a lot with SCL? thank you
