cmet Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	hi guys, I have to use the serial interface module (1SI 3964/Ascii) stick to ET200S IM151-7cputo recieve data from barcode scanner ( datalogic ). The procedure is 3964. The scanner must be trigger before reading the bacode. Anyone has any example? I did try the S_RCV function block in Siemens libraries but it can not work properly [:cry:]

Have you also downloaded the newest software and examples: Function Blocks, Examples and Manuals for the ET200S Serial Interfacethis because the blocks are changed there they newer module can have more I/O and then can work some faster. [;)]

I used the S_RCV (FB2) to recieve the data from the serial interface, but I can not trigger the barcode reader ( by sending STX (02h) ). Do I have to use S_SND to send STX to trigger the partner device before start recieving data from it? ( I thought no need .. is this rite? ) [:cry:]

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 7/3/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (314)	Hi C, With 3964 protocol the STX (02) is always the start, if you don't want that then you may use the ASCII protocol, there are you free to built up the telegram as you wish! [:P] But when there is explicit is given for the barcode reader that it works with 3964 or 3964R, then the STX is ok. Also a DLE and a ETX is then given and if you use the (R) then there is also a checksum. [:o] So please read the barcode readers manual very carefully, most new barcodereaders have to be set with a leaflet or little book on what you want. [:blush:] Do you have the manual (in English or German) from Datalogic, I have seen a lot of barcode readers from them but nearly never with 3964(R).

We would appreciate if you could share a sample 3964R program using 1SI. This would be helpful to all. Unfortunately Siemens 1SI manuals give detailed examples for USS and Modbus but very limited info is available for 3964R Thanks Navnag
