Server Indicator lights

The point is, when some of the servers fails (lost power supply, or someone shutdown by accident) the clients didn't notice that. Of course the redundancy server works, but if no one restart the server, when the other servers fails the system will fail. I'm trying to add some lights on the status bar that shows the actual state of the servers. the problem is how I can do that?. I have some indicators that tell me which server is the master but didn't help to much. I try the OPC channel but can't add this channel on the clients (don't know why) when i try to add the channel, only "System Info.chn" appears. There is some additional configuration for the clients for the OPC channel, or maybe there is another solution. How could a client know when a server is not running?. Regards P.D. NakedSnake Advanced Member Joined: 5/25/2006 Last visit: 3/21/2024 Posts: 28 Rating: (2)	I always look at the forum before posting a message, but only found some messages about the internal tags from the redundancy... those flags (@RM_MASTER, @RM_MASTER_NAME, @RM_SERVER_NAME) don't help me to much. I was looking for something like lifebit monitor. With a little modifications, I now have the light for the servers, so the clients can know when a server is down. I want to know when the server or the redundancy server is working or not, no matter who is the master. I have 2 servers, primary server (DBS2291) and the redundant server (DBS2292); I add two leds on the menu bar of the wincc (at the bottom of the screen), so all the clients can see two leds (one for the DBS2291 and the other for DBS2292), when some of the servers is down the respective led turns red, otherwise is green. For this I use the lifebit monitor tag so i can know which server is up (green light) or down (red light). That'swhatIintented to display, and now is working [:D] All this was made because the servers have no monitor and 2 weeks ago one server lost power (someone pull the power suply cable) and the wincc aplication never starts again so only 1 server was working for about 2 days, and no one notice, until the system starting getting slow and some tag starting to freeze. But now with those signals the operator can know when server or redundancy server is down and will take the respective measures. Best regards

Don't want to say that lifebeat monitoring is not working, just giving an other solution. with regards, Ikkezelf

It seems to be a good way for monotring if the servers are up. I'm not able to see how you made the animation for the leds. Could you give me a hint? I will apreciate any help. Best Regards.

On this screen the system create a visual object for the server. If you check on this object, under "properties -> miscellaneous -> Statetext", there is a C code, just use a similar code for the lights. Regards
