Servo motor lost home position and shifted by angle 180 degree

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1192)	Hi there. My earlier thoughts centres around the method used by some servo systems in how they execute homing routines. I do not know your system and you will have to evaluate if this is useful or not. Some homing routines moves in one direction in search of a reference sensor. On detecting the sensor the direction is reversed, moving at a slower speed to cross the sensor again. Then again slower move in the original direction until make the sensor. Thereafter it searches the datum position (zero mark) of the servo motor. I ask that you have a look at the method used when doing homing and note if there is a difference in when approaching the reference from forward or reverse directions. I have found (old) systems that had an inconsistency in the implimentation of the homing routine, depending how the referencing sensor is reached (reverse / forward movement). Please also check and report back.. What type of feedback your servo is using.. incremental encoder / absolute encoder / resolver and communication / pulsing signals? Is system using an external encoder to make a closed position loop and is this used in the homing routine? What components are used in the homing routine.. example - what is used as reference sensor? ..it is not much - but these are some thoughts to try and zoom in to the issue. w

Please descibe for me step by step the homing sequence of your system. 2. Explain to me what types of homing can be selected on the servo drive / servo controller. w
