In version 5.5, the number of db was associated with its symbolic name in the symbol table, and now, with the TIA Portal V12, can not be set in the PLC tags. I still have a question, and it would be the ideal solution, if it were contained in the source file scl the symbolic name and the number of DB avoiding to modify the parameters after compilation for example [code] DATA_BLOCK MyPersDB [DB 100] //MyPersDB is the DB number 100 TITLE = Personal DB { S7_Optimized_Access := 'FALSE' } VERSION : 1.2 STRUCT bP00 : REAL; END STRUCT BEGIN bP00:= 12.1; END_DATA_BLOCK [/code]

hdhosseini Diamond Expert Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 3/27/2025 Posts: 6867 Rating: (1366)	Hello again, Thanks for feedback.I think that is also not possible.There is "Key Words for Programming SCL Code Blocks" and you can search for that in manuals.I searched for that in new Hans Berger's Book on TIA.The outcome, no thing there.Till soid proof for that, avoid using symbols for DB in the body of SCL program.Also some modification,check [code]DATA_BLOCK DB 100 //MyPersDB is the DB number 100 TITLE = Personal DB { S7_Optimized_Access := 'FALSE' } VERSION : 1.2 STRUCT bP00 : REAL:=100.0; END_STRUCT BEGIN END_DATA_BLOCK [/code] I will update here , if I find it. You can either exclusively declare the DB number in the source file (e.g. DB100) OR use a name (e.g. MYDB) and let TIA provide the block number for you. For the latter, the block number that is provided cannot be specified; TIA will just use the next free number. I too have come up against this new "feature" and it has caused me yet another headache. I worked fine in STEP7 so why change it? 2 steps forward and 1 step back .

Flores Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	May be that many applications do not prefer to arrange memory, but sometimes when a complete development (from mecanich to IT is done) some unique name (symbol) and ID should be done. symbol are comprehensive for people, but numbers are comprehensive for machines. This is the reason to have a unidirectional link. This relation is important as the plctags relation. (Symbol for plc developers, address for PLChardware). manage a complete symbol table for blocks and PLCTAGS for me is a must have.

You can even change it after it has been created automatically. Like many things in portal, you must be offline to change it though. smiffy Unfortunately that avenue has been closed off for us in TIA. I can onlt manually define the block number by using the block number in the source file instead of a block name. E.G. FB100 in source --> FB100 in the project or "MyBlock" in source --> automatically assigned number in project. What I really wanted was "MyBlock" in source --> FB100 in project (FB number guaranteed to always be FB100). In STEP7 this was possible via the symbol table. There is no equivalent on TIA.
