Setting Analog Input With No Integration Time

flcorbin Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I was wondering if it's possible to disable (or set to 0) the integration time on analog inputs (on the 1214C or one of its SM)? I really need to get the raw data the fastest possible (the conversion time is supposed to be in the microseconds order, 625us if I remember correctly which is fine) but the long integration time (in the milliseconds, 16.7ms and up) make my application impossible for now. Anyone have an idea? Thanks for your help.

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 1/16/2025 Posts: 15539 Rating: (2465)	A test to try may be to add a seperate analog input module in the TIA software, configure the module and channels to see the lowest selection. I believe it provides more options than the PLC analog inputs. For my last project, the add-on module analog input integration time was set to 2.5ms (400Hz).

flcorbin Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi, Thanks for your response but I know that SM can be set to 2.5ms, which could be fine (or at least better than now) but directly on the PLC CPU 1214C, the lowest integration time value is only 16.7ms. But, unfortunately, I don't have any space left on the SM so it need to work on the CPU itself. That why I was wondering about that. Is this only a software setting that could be change but that we can't with this software version or is this a hardware limitation? If, it's software, is there a way to change settings without sing TIA portal? Thank you very much,

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 1/16/2025 Posts: 15539 Rating: (2465)	Can you add another analog input module, or reconfigure your analog signals so your faster response inputs are on the SM, slower inputs to the PLC? If you are using an 8-analog input module with 2.5ms resolution already, I would bet your PLC scan time is higher than 2.5 ms, so you're programming with interrupt or other speciality OBs to handle the faster updates. At some point, the PLC will simply be too slow to process your signals. Perhaps you are already there? To answer your other questions about the PLC analogs, I am fairly certain to hit the PLC pricing, certain design concessions were made to get analog inputs on the PLC itself. For speciality applications, they offer the 4 and 8 analog inputs, which you're already using. I guess it seems like you want the low-end S7 PLC to perform high-end signal processing. Does not seem like the proper PLC platform may have been selected, or new processingdemands have outgrown capabilities and capacity.

flcorbin Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Thank you very much for your inputs. But, no, I can't add or change anything hardware since I'm reprogramming remotly for a customer addon request. If I could add a module, I would have done it already. So, like you said, new processingdemands have now outgrown capabilities. But what I don't undertand is that the conversion time is fast enough (supposed to be 625us) but for noise reducution purpose (which I don't need), I have to choose an integraton time in the millisecond order. This seem only software. Anyhow, I'll do what i can with this hardware and software. Thanks again!
