setting up communication between S7-300 and S110 drive

stevennoppe Posts: 65 Rating: (1)	Hello, I need help setting up the communication between a S110 drive and a S7-300 PLC. For the moment I have a PLC and 7 or 8 drives connected to it. All drives run synchronious with each other. I have added a new drive into the profibus network and everything is fine so far, no errors or other problems. Now I need to setup both the PLC and the new S110 drive, so that the S110 receives the setpoint and runs at that speed. I know a little about setting up a message frame or a user defined telegram, and after that sending it to the HW config, to re-upload it to the PLC. But when I look at the NSOLL_A, it is always 0. Is there a website that can easily explain to me how to set up a telegram or can any one help me? thanx in advance Steven Noppe

In HWConfig you must ad the S110 too get the i/o Adresses for data exchange. In the drive you must load a configuration with the specific telegram you would use to communicate with the plc. On the PLC site you must ad the FB's to send the data to the drive and receive data from the drive. Regards Christoph

Dave Posts: 271 Rating: (29)	Hello Steven, Open the Sinamics S120 Function Manual Edition 07/2007 and turn to page 350. There you will see that the most simple velocity controlled drive will use telegram #1 which has 2 words for control and 2 words for check back signals. You'll have the Nsoll (speed setpoint) and Nist (speed actual) along with the enable signals for the axis in STW1 and CTW1. Page 348 of this manual shows several more advanced selections for velocity control (if necessary). Hope this helps...

Regards Christoph Ok, this is what I did : In starter I addedStandard telegram 1, PZD-2/2 for the Drive and SIEMENS telegram 390, PZD-2/2 for the Control unit. Then I pushed the button "Transfer to HW Config". Now I get 2 blue checks after the Message frame type, meaning everything is ok. I uploaded the new HW config to the PLC. In the HW config I now have : Standard telegram 1,PZD-2/2 => I address : 738...741 and O address : 356...359 SIEMENS telegram 390, PZD-2/2 => I address : 356...359 and O address : 278...281 In the PLC program I added a new FB with the following line : L DB39.DBD52 T PQW278 where DB39.DBD52 is a word when I monitor the program I see that DBD39.DBD52 and PQW 278 are the same, so I guess the transfer was correct. But still in Starter NSOLL_A stays 0

I tried them all, but still no luck What am I still missing? Hi, You have to send a Control word to PQW 356 and the Desired speed to PQW 358. Then you can read back a Status Word in first PIW and the actual speed in second PIW. Best regards, Wizard

Edit : Ok, I finally got it to work : L W#16#47F T PQW 356 L W#16#2000 T PQW 358 To stop the motor I just do this again : L W#16#47E T PQW 356

stevennoppe Posts: 65 Rating: (1)	But what if I just want to send the wanted speed and I want to control the drive with a switch : PLC => speed switch => on/off So I do not need to send the control word, how do I do this? most of the parameters in my Starter are greyed out?!?
