Setting up ET200S

I have chosen to configure an ET200S System using IM151-7 CPU. I am not aware though of the accessories to be used or if there is lacking on my list. Can someone please check my list and please tell me immediately what is lacking? Does it include front connectors or terminals? I have read that this system needs a terminal module also, is it included in the CPU? Here's the list... 1 x IM151-7 CPU (6ES7 151-7AA00-0AB0) 6 x 8ch. DI Module (6ES7 131-4BF00-0AA0) 6 x 8ch. DO Module (6ES7 132-4BF00-0AA0) 3 x 2ch. AI Module (6ES7 134-4GB00-0AB0) 1 x PM-E DC24V (PN: 6ES7 138-4CA50-0AB0) 1 x MMC Thanks experts!! Daniel

Daniel Hello, Above configuration does not include any terminal modules. You have to take care of the following points: IM151-7 CPU (6ES7 151-7AA00-0AB0) is phased out product. Its successor now is6ES7151-7AA21-0AB0. You need a profibus interface as stated in your post. So, you need to add DP Master interface module (6ES7138-4HA00-0AB0) For your power module or if you want to add more, then for eachpower module, you need a terminal module. Also for each Electronic module you needa terminal module for each one. Note that terminal module for power modules is different than those of electronic modules. After finishing using this tool, you will found all accessories were added to your shopping basket. Hope this helps.

Isn't the port on IM151-7 capable of Profibus communication? I just want to use it as a DP slave. So I need terminal module for each modules. In this case how many power modules do I have to use?

Hello, Integrated port of CPU IM151-7 is Profibus-DP Slave. And you will need one terminal module for each electronic or power module and take into consideration that terminal modules of power modules are not suitable for electronic modules. No. of needed power modules depends on the number of electronic modules. If you tried to use configurator, it will tell you when you exceed the current limit for each power module. Current Carrining Capacity per each power module = 10 A. and you shouldn't exceed this limit. Hope this helps.

I have found out after using the configurator that I need two Power Modules for my entire rack with 15 electronic modules. I am thinking right now if I am going to pursue using ET200S system or just use S7-300 system with 315-2DP cpu. I tried to configure the ET200S system looking forward to a cheaper price but I think with these much modules it may also get even with the 315-2DP cpu with 7 modules. What do you think should I choose sir Ayman? Pros and Cons about the two system? can you give me some tips. Thank you sir.

For example, you can use ET-200M if you want to reduce number of signal modules. With ET-200S, you will use higher quantaties in modules but also you have an advantage here in the space. With ET-200S you can use it without terminal blocks. So, it save space and time. What I wanted to say, the price comparison shouldn't be limited to price of IO modules. It should include terminal blocks, accessories, workmanship,...etc.
