Setting up Sm@rtServer for simulation

dlk Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I'm working on a project in TIA Portal V13 (with Update 1) and can't figure out how to set up Sm@rtServer capability on my simulated HMI (Runtime Advanced)! My project consists of one PLC (CPU 317F-2) and one HMI (TP700 Comfort). Once again, I'm not working with real hardware, just simulating with PLCSIM and Runtime Advanced. My question is: is it possible to run the simulation, and be able to access the HMI screen through a web browser, in order to demonstrate this remote access functionality? If it's possible, could someone please guide me with some steps? I can provide additional information and screenshots if needed! Thank you

When you use the Advanced Runtime (Runtimebutton) then the normal Advanced Runtime System works and you can set the settings of the Sm@rtServer in the ControlPanel -> WinCC Internet Settings. If it works with the Runtime Simulation ... I don´t know Bye Murof

As you can see in the screenshot I attached, the "Start Runtime on the PC" button is grayed out (I don't fully comprehend the TIA ecosystem, is the Runtime meant to work exclusively in conjunction with real hardware?). I can only press the button next to it, "Start Simulation" (is that what you were referring to?). As you can also see in "Device information" I am getting a DEFECTIVE message, when I clickon details it tells me to either restart Windows or (if the problem persists) check "Device manager" in Control Panel, and see if there are conflicts with working memory of devices or something like that. In "Accessible devices", the HMI does't seem to exist in the project - TIA only finds PLC_1. In "Network overview" I can see HMI_RT_1, I guess that's what I need? K!ke Posts: 1299 Rating: (136)	Hello, if you start the simulation (with the start simulation button in TIA portal) of the comfort panel, the sm@rtserver is also simulated. To access the sm@rtserver you need to set a password in control panel > WinCC Runtime Advanced Internet tab "remote" > change settings. K!ke

dlk Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	After uninstalling Java8 and installing the older version (Java7) I was able to open the HMI in my browser! If I wanted however to access the Sm@rtServer from a device on a different network (e.g. tablet with 3G internet connection), what do I input in the address bar? In this case I can't use the local IP address (192.168.x.x)

When I access the Sm@rtServer over my web browser (192.168.1.24:5800), the Java applet loads my entire screen and it works fine. My question was: when trying to access the Sm@rtServer (since I am simulating it, I guess it would be more correct saying: trying to access my PC) from outside my home network without setting up dynamic DNS - what should I do exactly?
