Setup CP 342-5 to get remote IO from IM 153-2BA82

aclem Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I'm trying to use a CP 342-5 to communicate with an IM 153-2BA82-0XB0. When I setup the hardare int the config I an push the configuration to the devices the CP342-5 BusF light flashes at about 1Hz and the BF1 light on the IM 153-2 is on solid. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

There are important differences in the way you configure and program exchanges using a CP 342-5 as a Profibus-DP master, compared to using the Profibus interface of a CPU.These differences are explained in the following FAQ: What should you watch out for when configuring a CP342-5 as DP master and why is it necessary to call the FC1 "DP_SEND" and FC2 "DP_RECV" functions in the user program of the CPU in order to transfer data? Please pay specialattention to sections 3 and 4 of this document, it explains how to correctly parametrize the functions FC1 and FC2 that you must use in your programto set up exchanges between the CPU and the CP over the backplane. I'm currently not trying to program the devices, just get them setup in the hardware configurator and get them to run without a program or a minimal program if required. When I load the configuration, the CPU is fine, but the CP342 and IM-153 both just blink the bus fault light. I've attached the config. Thanks Attachment Distri_1.zip (188 Downloads)

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 3/14/2025 Posts: 12344 Rating: (2707)	Hello aclem; Please open the Diagnostic Buffer of the CPU (or the online HWConfig editor, then double-click on all modules marked with a red cross indicating failure). This will show you what the CPU does not like in your configuration. This should become a standard reflex on your part anytime the SF/BF LEDs light up. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

aclem Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I've looked at the diagnostic buffer the are several messages and there is only one that I think could be causing the problem. It is: Event 5 of 28: Event ID 16# F9C1:2357 Conf. monitoring time for data transfer is shorter than 6 times the slave watchdog time (PROFIBUS addr. 3). Corrected monitoring time: 360 ms. External error, Incoming event I'm not sure where to change the monitoring time. I've also disabled the watchdog on the 153(which is addr3) Still have the blinking bus fault lights. I am trying to use a 153-2 that I have successfully used in a redundant configuration useing a Y-Coupler. Is it possible that I need a different 153-2 that is not designed to use in a redundant configuration? Thanks
