SF LED on - difference on CPU types

ivo.k Advanced Member Joined: 1/11/2009 Last visit: 1/14/2025 Posts: 13 Rating: (2)	Hi to all, I have a CPU 315F-2PN/DP networked with some several other PLCs, some of them being also F-CPUs. I used 315-2FH13 until it got really full and slow for my application, then I replaced it with its spare-part compatible successor 315-2FJ14 without changing HW config. It was in May. Since that time everything worked fine. I run out of load memory so I changed a MMC card last week. No problems. Today, I suddenly found SF LED on. There are no faults in the buffer, only half-day old messages. HW config also doesn't show anything wrong. Everything is running fine. Only that damn SF LED is on! The only message which is shown is that another CPU type is detected. When I compare the program with online, including system data and F-program, everything is the same as it used to be. So my question is why there is a sudden detection of different CPU types if until now there was no fault?! I couldn't switch CPU off and on today because the production was running. Moreover, I can't change CPU in HW config because it would mean recompilation of the complete network and possibly reloading all other CPUs. Needless to say I don't know their passwords... Any ideas what to do? Ivo

Nothing had changed. I still wonder why it could happen when CPU is said to be 100% spare part compatible...

The most important thing is to know what might it happens if the system works in that way. At the moment you said: there only SF is ON, software is working properly. So far, so good! But what about in future? According to me, the suggestion from support would be to update the hardware configuration... The innovated S7-300 V3 CPUs are spare-part compatible and will substitute the V2 CPUs. Best regards, Hristo MIhalev
