short note about difference between simovert and sinamics

Technically - is to bring all the family of drives on common platform & also to make programming & maintenance user friendly.If you commission Sinamics through Starter then it is vey user friendly & u need not to always remember parameters no & also if you see the Hardware part then concept of CU & CLiQ makes Drive more close to Automation. If you want just to listen, not to read - contact with your local Siemens rep. and ask "What are the differences between Simovert and Sinamics? Why do I need to buy Sinamics?" The Starter looks (for me) very similar to the old drive monitor.... For me, there is no realy big benefit. If you worked once with IndraWorks Engineering from BoschRexroth, you will be very suprised how easy the setupof complex drive can be... Also SEW Motion Studio is easy to handel, even if it is not so very fine any more... I do not like the starter very much. Also it bring very often compatibility problems together with "Drive ES" if not take care. And it wasting a lot of PC - recources. Start it once with4 or 5 or moreStep7 integrated drives, you will see what I mean.

My point concernedStartergraphics. There is much easier to work and to inderstand the things comparing with DriveMonitor. And you mentioned the heavest case - many drivesintegrated in Step7. To put there some panels...so the PC should be very "good" but also the man behaid the computer should have very big knowledge and expirience in order to manage all the staff there. And for him will be (should be)the same to work either with Starter or DriveMon or... Best regards, Hristo MIhalev

For Simple applications, Starter is little complex for beginners.. While, if you are knowing about drive programing, you will like Starter because of graphical representation. Its very easy to troubleshoot in Starter. Easy monitoring of basic parameters like current, voltage, etc. Easy to check control word, status word, profibus datas, USS datas, etc.. All and all, Starter have advantage over Drive Monitor.. Devesh
