Siemens Matrox card installation problem

Yai Posts: 62 Rating: (2)	Hi experts, I'm having a problem. I'm using DELL Pricision 690 to run PCS7 with Dual monitor card which is come together. However, as Siemens recommendation to use Matrox card, so I follow it. After I replace Matrox card, I face the problem as the attachment (blue screen problem) and I cannot fix. even I try to reinstall Window but consequence still the same. CBo Gold Member Joined: 4/5/2006 Last visit: 1/8/2025 Posts: 917 Rating: (63)	Hello Yai, strange problem, but you are notthe only it happened Normal installation is: - install card ino free slot - turn on PC and disable internal VGA from BIOS - install driver from CD well, my collegue had same trouble of you, he just install driver at first and install card at the end, it worked....not sure it will work for for every situation Did you tryied to change slot? I remeber Siemens suggest to install Matrox card on specific slot (over Siemens PC) Regards

Yai Posts: 62 Rating: (2)	Hi CBo, Every time I change at the BIOS to boot PCI card (matrox), i got everytime blue screen. Now, I have to use a way that uninstall Dell's card driver and instead installMatrox driverin window, but stillselect at BIOS to boot from Dell's card. After BIOS booting finish, it switch to use Matrox card. It works, but not a real solution for long term :( any idea elses? Regards, YAi

From "www.dell.com", "Dell Precicion 690 Product Details", Only external graphics cards, no "on the motherboard". There should be no bios setting too disable something thats not there. Is this one correct ? [code]http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/precn_690?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~tab=specstab[/code] Is your Matrox card "PCI-e" or "PCI" or something else ? Is the PC ordered with "graphics card riser" ? In which slot is the graphics card mounted ? Have you installed/updated new driver from matrox ? But, most important, what matrox-card ??

Yai Posts: 62 Rating: (2)	Hi perdahlqvist, Yes you're right. It's not a board which is already on mother board. The matrox card is siemens video card which provides dual monitor. It is a PCI. I really do not know what "graphics card riser" is, sorry :( it 's mounted on PCI slot 4. I think I have most updated driver (in FAQ:Entry ID:20712944). Thank you Yai

Its something you have to order/choose when ordering, quad-setup of screens I belive it was... From FAQ: Driver is from 2006, 04/25/2006, 5.96.005.0 From Matrox homepage: New driver, Dec. 18, 2008, Link: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/drivers/download/?id=304 Please, dowload new driver from Matrox and try again. btw: I would have tried a P690 pci-e from matrox... That card will fit, and most probably work. "Slotting" PCI card in pci-e motheboard is always a gamble.

Hal Limmer Experienced Member Joined: 4/17/2007 Last visit: 7/26/2024 Posts: 47 Rating: (1)	I had a similar problem with a dell PC (blue screen everytime it booted) and it ended up being the motherboard was not compatible with the Siemens supported Matrox card, I used an nvidia card (dual monitor) that came with the Dell computer and it worked just fine.
