Can somebody help me to identify this PLC? A montitor is connector via VGA and a keyboard with a DB 25 connector. Previously we could log in using a terminal through a modem connection on othe telephone lines. I know want the terminal on a pc right next to the plc which is connected direclty. This should be even easier right? But i have tried everything and i cannot get a connection. Weda usies their own terminal software to control the plc remotely. But the software ask for a CAN-net Box. i could not find any information about this product. And WEDA did not know anything about their own products from the 1980 or just could not be bothered. I have a bunch of pictures, i have found out several things but they are all wrong i gues, maybe some expert recognizes the chips and can help me! Here is almost all the information. The CTM 5 card is supposed to be for a direct connection to the PC software terminal, but it wask for a can box. Maybe they mean with a can box a: S232-TTY ADAPTER ACTIVE - PC-TTY INTERFACE?I am really lost know i really hope someone can help me. I just baffles me how we could control this PLC 15 years ago remotely anywhere we wanted with teh special modems. Know i want a direct cable connection to the software and i just can not get it done. LINK TO PHOTOS OF PLC CHIPS: there is also a foto of the program running on the display directly connected to the plc. I gues it has a built in HMI interface? Sorry im 25 i dont have much experience in this field, but believe me i tried a LOT of things. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ka3tiLGBuhoA5Z6NA Thanks in Advance! Gr, J V |

Hello jaricool; Sorry, I do not recognize this particular control computer, it looks like it is fromway before my time with Siemens. I also cannot recognise the name of the components, when they can be seen. I hope someone here has more experience and memory. However, I may help you another way: https://www.weda.de/en/liquid-feeding This company, in Germany, makes dry- and wet-feed conveyors for the pig industry, and some of the drawings that come from your pictures have a good ressemblance to their present day videos. See the attachment below. Siemens has been known to produce controllers for 3rd-parties, especially ion Germany, these controllers were packaged as per the buyer's needs and specifications, and the name of the unit was then changed from the Siemens official name to a model dedicated to that company. If this is the case, your best bet would be to inquire at WEDA if they still have something in their archives that goes back to 1993 (from your drawings). You might also ask Siemens directly (try a Support Request, the link can be found at the top of this page), but I doubt they can provide many details on this controller; if it is in their archives they consider this Privileged Information. I faced the same type of problem with a rebranded S7-95U inside a Kaiser Compressor unit a few years ago. Also, for the (I presume) RS232 to TTY converter cable: Siemens used to produce a cable 6ES5 734-1BD20 TTY cable, as a programming cable for all the S5 CPUs (that I have experience with). But this is now considered a Spare Part and is no longer being produced (as all the S5 line): One interesting alternative comes from IBH-Softec, which produces programming equipment for the S5 and S7 families from Siemens. Have a look here: https://www.ibhsoftec.com/epages/63444704.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63444704/Products/2020 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
