Siemens Simodrive 611 won't identify as correct drive

capriracer351 Member Joined: 5/7/2018 Last visit: 3/2/2023 Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	We had a high speed spindle lock up last week, taking out the Simodrive LT-Modul.300A, model number 6SN1123-1AA00-00-0JA1 Version A. We have a brand new, still in the box spare that we replaced it with, but it will not auto identify as the correct drive (P-095) This should equal 11 for this module, but it identified as a 1, even after reinitialization of the controller card, model number 6SN1122-0BA11-0AA1 version C. We ordered a refurbished 300 amp module and installed it without any problems and the machine has been running normally for a week. Since the module that did not identify correctly is brand new and these are not available anymore as new, I would like to be able to make it functional. What inside the LT module tells the controller card the correct version? I do not see any dip switches or any EEPROM that would contain data. Is it as simple as possibly a few jumpers or maybe some resistors that were configured incorrectly from the factory? This spare has been sitting on the shelf since 2009, so we obviously would not be able to return to Siemens for credit as a defective module. We WOULD like information as to how it can be made to identify as the correct drive. I will add some pictures below to help provide some more information. The refurbished module is in the machine right now and they are producing parts as we speak. So I would not be able to swap them out to give you an answer. For future reference, what should I look for if later on I can swap this new module back in on a Saturday if the machine operator has that day off.

I was able to install the power module today since the machine operator is not here. The number for P0 is 19° 4. A1. Hopefully this will be useful information for you to assist me in finding the problem. I will be able to leave this spindle drive in the machine until Monday afternoon, then I must take it back out for Tuesday when the machine operator returns. If there is any other information I can provide, I'll do the best I can to find it. Thank You.

Please refer chapter Main spindle module complete. 2. Please refer p000 & p100 display which shall help you to identify drive present status as well as drive I/O status. This is important to understand what is drive present status & which I/O signals are enabled to drive. Please attach snap shots of drive display when you try to run spindle (apply run command) to understand better. You can take number of snaps, reduce size & attach snapshot zip folder here.

The moment the drive I am asking the question about powers up, it gets the the F16 fault with the correctly functioning controller card that works perfectly in the other power module. So in other words, when P-95 is at 11, this power module incorrectly says it it wrong. When I reinitialize this perfectly working controller card while it is installed in the power module that I asked the question about, it auto detects this power module as a 1. So in other words, this 300 amp power module thinks it is an 8 amp power module! Any inputs or outputs will have nothing to do with the problem since this power module does not even know what it is. But yet, the rest of the system works perfectly with the power module that we have been machining with for over a week. I will have to call Siemens USA tech support on Monday and see if I can get an answer from them. If not, maybe I can send this power module to the Siemens repair facility. Maybe they will be able to repair the problem. Unfortunately, that means we will have to probably thousands of dollars to repair what was most likely a manufacturing defect.

PISCEAN 2010 Diamond Expert Joined: 4/23/2010 Last visit: 3/28/2023 Posts: 8026 Rating: (855)	Please check the firmware version of your LT power module. If it is > 3.0, it should get detected. If it is < 3.0 user need to enter data. (refer attached sheet, extracted from Siemens manual) If FW is > 3.0 but still power module is not getting detected, or in case if you change p095 but it does not get change/save, then in that case, you need to follow Initialization procedure of drive. (refer manual attached in earlier post) For this you need drive file as well as hardware & software set up. If the same is not available, I suggest get the help from external agency. Hope this helps. capriracer351 Member Joined: 5/7/2018 Last visit: 3/2/2023 Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	The firmware is 3.10. I have been through the re-initialization procedure many times, it self identifies as a 1. I have 2 other LT modules here that identify correctly every time with the same controller card. Including the one that is being used in the machine as I write this. There must be something in the LT module that tells the controller what it is. Some jumpers, a resistor or maybe an EEPROM. I am going to disassemble the drive that failed when the spindle locked up. Then I will disassemble the new drive and do some comparison testing. Something is different between the two LT modules. Maybe I can find out what it is. If so, I will return and provide some feedback here. Maybe that will help someone in the future.
