Jacques-Olivier Posts: 23 Rating: (1)	Dear experts, This might be important, or not at all, but could you please make it clear : if one's wants to use several SM with one CPU, is the order important or not ? For example I use a CPU 1214C, then a SM1223 8DI/8DO, and a SM1231 8AI Can I put the analog module after the digital one, or the other wayshould bebetter ? Or probablywe don't care at all ? Do we need to consider thisquestion if we have more SM, because we can use up to 8 !? I saw nothing in the manual about this... Thanks

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 11/8/2024 Posts: 15388 Rating: (2443)	I typically arrange it like this: RS485 \| PLC \| DI/DO \| AI/AO \| TC \| TC (communications \| PLC \| combo digital I/O \| combo analog I/O \| Thermocouple x 2) However, it does not matter. I did it that way to keep digital signals grouped together so wiring would be routed from the left, with analog signals routed from the right. My last project was something like this: PLC \| DI/DO \| DI/DO \| DI/DO ----\ cable cable \---- AI/AO \| TC \| TC I used the extension cable to separate digital and analog wiring. It worked out nicely.
