The LR560 has a blind/blanking/dead zone of about 0.3m below the face of the transducer in which it can't read level. Filling the vessel means that an lR560 radar mounted at the top elevation loses its signal in upper 0.3 m. The work-around is to have a nozzle (a length of pipe or fabricated metal enclosure) installed, which serves to extend the face of the radar above the top level so that level can be read to the top. Recommendations for mounting include a location that keeps the emission cone/beam free of interference from ladders, pipes, I-beams, or the filling stream and to keep the radar at least 0.2m from the vessel wall (my experience is a distance of more than 0.2m) An alternative radar is Siemens LR100 series, that has a high frequency with a narrow beam, works well on solids, but claims a zero distance blanking zone. The LR100 is a 'blind' transmitter, it has no display or keypad. Configuration setup is done via a mobile app and Bluetooth. Check out the catalog sheet for the LR100 in the attachment Be aware that the LR100 introduction was announced a couple months ago but its release has been delayed. The photo at the link below shows an LR100 mounted on a black fabricated platform, above the cicular manway entry. [snip] The location of the platform does not account for level above the elevation of the platform. Reading level to the top of cone top vessel is a challenge. AttachmentSitrans.zip (217 Downloads) |
