My questions are: -Can I use WinCC Flexible 2008 with Step7 Professional to configure the display? -Can I use an MPI lead to connect the PLC and HMI, or is there a better way of networking (The PLC and HMI will be only 2 devices on the network)? Are you suggesting that it would be better to get TIA Portal to program the PLC and HMI with one software, meaning I wouldn't require WinCC flexible at all then for this project? Thanks David

Thanks David Hello, I usually do this: the S7 300 CPU I program it with STEP7 V5.5 and the panels (Basic or Comfort) with TIA Portal with the Device Proxy the link that I put before. You do not need WinCC Flexible. You can also program PLC and HMI with Tia Portal

Sorry I have no experience with HMI's. Have you a part number for the profibus cable? I will then not require any other lead for programming other than the MPI lead I currently use to program the CPU? Also my touch panel is definitely compatible with TIA Portal? Huge thanks again David Hello, PROFIBUS bus cables - Industry Mall - Siemens WW RS 485 bus connector - Industry Mall - Siemens WW have a look TIA V13, transfer project to TP177A - Industry Support Siemens seems so..... I never used TP177A with TIA Portal anyway I would go on a minimum a basic panel
