Simatic Manager V5.4 blocked

iamonik Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Dear Friends I meet first time such kind of problem , where my SImatic Manager V5.4 , installed in a laptop with OS WinXP Professionav SP3, refuse to start. After double click on desktop icon , the classic splash appeare , and nothing more happend. According to the Win task manager , the process Simatic manager is "not reponding". All the process seems running , but nothing happend. On the other way , I can run "alone" without problems STEP7 KOP-FUP-AWL editor Interfaces , Netpro , Interface settings.... all instrumets , but not under Simatic Manager! Our IT , suggest to unistall the re-install Simatic manager , but I would like to hear another opinon. Just for informations, licence are verified , and I'm was using S7 since Yesterday without problems! Just after today power ON I can't anymore. Tanks Ivan

What SP do you have for Step 7 at this moment? The failure comes from this morning only , just yesterday I use the software without any problems! I don't know why now should be required SP4.... Ivan

May be something wrong happen with your Windows! Back to compatability list as Mr. D-Chartier adviced, Your Simatic Version is V5.4+SP3+HF1. We call it as V5.4+SP4. So it's compatable with Widows XP+SP2 or SP3 So I think that something wrong happen in the Windows... Regards

Now, understand that you were in a very common situation: unsupported. Siemens doesn't say that their software versions will not work under XP SP3 (as you saw, your system worked for a while); they say they cannot guarantee and support your system integrity all the time if you do not follow their compatibilty recommendations. Something happened, we don't know what, and then Step 7 SP3 didn't work anymore with Windows XP SP3. Siemens "told you so" and washes its hands of the problem; you should have known better. Information on installation requirements is provided with every software they sell. Well, it's not quite true that they leave you hanging: they do provide the upgrade to SP4 free for download, and if you have any issuesfor your installationwith Windows then you have a claim. Lesson: keep abreast of updates conditions for Siemens software when trying out a new version of Windows (you know where to find the Compatibility Matrix now).
