Simatic Net NCM License

girishraj Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Dear all, Here is my current situation : I have Simatic Net NCM installed and running on aComputer having Windows 2000 asthe Operating System. The computer is having lots of problems. and it has been decided to change it and use a new computer with Windows XP as Operating System. Now what i want to know is : Can i re-use the existing licensefrom the Windows 2000 OSon the new Windows XP OS ?

Can you give us a version number? With that you check or your version is compatible with Windows XP SP2 or not. If it's compatible you can install it problem free if it's not compatible you could buy an upgrade which is in most cases not expensive at all. But for the correct upgrade we need the version you have at the moment. Checking this on your License Floppy is the best way... girishraj Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello, Sorry, i don't have the version number. But the Simatic NET version I have will not install on Win XP sp2. I have tried it before. The Simatic Net CD dates from 4-6 years ago. It can only be installed on Windows 2000. I will try to find the version Am using OPC Scout to get data from the PLC (S7-315 2DP) through Profibus (CP5611 in the PC) to SpecView32. I have 2 questions: Will i have to upgrade both the license and the software ? Or will i be able to use the sameold license on the new pc ? Best regards

Then you transfer the old license to your new PC and you put the old license on this PC. If this is done you canupgrade your license with the Automation License Manager. After you have done this you can configure your system again.
