Ayad1 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hello Everyone, I'm trying the last days to build and configure an OPC server,this is my firstproject that has to do with an OPC server,i'm dealing now with twochalenges: I will describ first the project: I have two PLC'sSLAVE (2x CPU 317-2DP) and one SLAVE(1x CPU 317-2DP),these PLC's are connected each via a CP 343-1 lean(Ethernet) to aSCALANCE(Firewall+Router) module,which is connected to WINCC OPC server. (1) The first challenge: which version of SIMATIC NET NETWORKINGwill be compatible with CPU317,Simatic NCM PC manager5.3 i think issupporting CPU 314 and not 317(i have tried to make a Hardware update---->> no result(see Attachement)) (2) couldanyone send me a manual. how to build an configure step by step aWINCC OPCSERVER. jklm Platinum Member Joined: 12/22/2006 Last visit: 1/25/2022 Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, I just wonder why you want to use OPC, because WinCC supports natively S7-protocol (which is available in S7-CPUs and CPs). Configure an S7 channel for both CPUs. As of WinCC 6.0, the license for up to 8 S7 connections is included in WinCC.

Reactification: I have two PLC’s SLAVE (2x CPU 317-2DP) and one MASTER(1x CPU 317-2DP), these PLC’s are connected ALL to a scalance module via a CP 343-1 lean(Ethernet), the scalance is connected to Wincc OPC server. **(1) You mean there is no need here to use an OPC server??? If that is correct (I have no experience with OPC server!!) ---->> (2) How could I use Wincc??(We have here in our company Simatic Wincc flexible advanced 2005 SP1 version1.1), I mean .. (3) Do I install again the full Wincc packet on My desktop who are connected to the 3 PLC’s?? or the Runtime version is enough??? (4) How could I configure the Wincc to collect data of the 3 PLC’s??? GENERAL QUESTION:** When could I use in this application a PC as an OPC server?? Thanks a lot, Best regard Ayad
