Import-User-1 Posts: 3609 Rating: (29)	I've just added Windows XP Service Pack 2 and I know periodically get the following error message box appear: -------------------------------------------------------- Error in \device\s7opcmcx0: The open card&socket services call failed. For further information, refer to the SINEC2.LOG file system directory. --------------------------------------------------------- I contacted my local A&D support centre and they said "remove SP2 from your machine" Surely there is more to this. SP2 provides extra security to the system and any new PC will automatically come installed with SP2 on it.

So you are not allowed to use XP SP 2, when you do anyway you make this on your own risk. You should wait until verified Simatic Software is released for XP SP 2, this will need some time. Do you want to know what service packs are good for? Here the description of Service pack which I found on WIKIPEDIA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_pack For a lot of SIEMENS-Products, there are Service Packs too. With each Service Pack there is a detailed description to with the new functionality. Best regards Sabine

Thanks for your respond. I think i have the Simatic NET PC V6.2 so that might explain
my problems?
