Hello changgyun; Your question, as written, pertains more to philosophy than technical specifications... Just in case, follow the following link to the Siemens Mall; you can check out order numbers and descriptions (see the specific tabs and links) for all current A&D hardware and software elements: https://mall.automation.siemens.com/WW/guest/index.asp?aktPrim=0&nodeID=9300119 Maybe you can find your answers there. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello changgyun; That is what you could have confirmed for yourself in the link provided earlier. You would have found this descrition had you done a Search on your part number:
So yes, this driver is for Hardnet connection to IE, using a CP 1613. As I understand it, Hardnet drivers are dedicated to specialized interface cards (like the CP 1613 for IE)that contain memory buffers and routines to parse messages sent over the network without intervention by the CPU. Softnet uses cheaper hardware (standard NICs for IE) but requires an interrupt of the CPU everytime a message is recieved, as the interface cards cannot manipulate the recied frames. So network loading is higher on the CPU ressources. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
